In August 2020, Caerleon RC took part in the Wydean Relay for the first time. This was only the second time the event had taken place.
The Wyedean Relay is an off-road team event starting and finishing in Chepstow.
It runs over beautiful countryside in the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.
There are 10 separate legs. The route follows the National Trails of the Gloucestershire Way, The Wysis Way, The Wye Valley Walk and Offas Dyke. Due to the COVID-19 situation the 2020 and 2021 events were reduced to 5 legs, but still starting and finishing in Chepstow. 2022 saw this increase to 7.
Caerleon RC have consistently sent three teams to the event with a number of runners making their competitive relay debuts for the club. The club give a really good account of themselves with excellent performances throughout the day. Hopefully, the Wyedean Relay will return in 2023 with the full quota of 10 legs, and will continue to be a regular part of the Caerleon RC race calendar.
