In March 2020, the activities of Caerleon RC were hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. Overnight, our club runs stopped and with races being postponed or cancelled all over the world, all our race preparations were put on the back burner.
In response to this, club members rallied and took part in a series of 8 virtual races spanning a period of 16 weeks. Overall 72 members took part in at least one event, with 14 runners completing all 8!.
We gave Kipchoge a run for his money, completed marathons, took on the Olympic Challenge and even ran from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and a little bit further.
Never before has the fortitude, resolve and spirit of our amazing club been better demonstrated. #caerleonrunners #runthroughcovid19
